This image represents the “Road of Trials” which is one of the steps to Joseph Campbell’s “The Hero’s Journey.” The “Road of Trials” is the step in which the hero, who has already received the call, refused the call, answered the call, met with the mentor, and crossed the threshold, has to now travel down a road of many trials that will help to prepare him/her for “The Ordeal” which is when the hero must face his biggest fear. Along this “Road of Trials” the hero will make friends who will help him with tests, and enemies who will try to make him fail. He will also have to face “The Ordeal” and then he will get “The Reward” and start “The Road Back”, ending “The Road of Trials.
I think that, as a freshman at New Technology High School, I am on “The Road of Trials.” I have already made some friends, maybe even some enemies, and passed a few tests. I know that I still have a long way ahead of me but at least I’m not just now receiving the call. I know that I will make more friends and enemies and pass uncountable amounts of tests but I know that I will be able to face “The Ordeal” and I will get my reward.
