Our final art piece is a 3d model of two coral reefs, one healthy and one unhealthy. (Photos to be added soon). Our audience understood the content and I think it may have even inspired them to make a change in the world.

For my artwork my group is in the process of creating a three dimensional model of two coral reefs, one healthy one, and one dying one. To create this, we had to find pieces of cardboard, cut them up and tape them together. This went pretty well but only after a few failed attempts of using the box cutter. While creating this, I realized that it’s going to be harder than I thought to create the coral. My group is still deciding what materials we should use. I think for our next steps we should try to make what we have so far look better, by covering it all, including the tape, with paper that will make it look more oceany. Then we will create the coral, get some rocks and other materials and use them to create the two coral reefs. I think that we’re going to put some information on the sides and maybe the back so that the audience will understand what they’re looking at. The information will be about what we have researched, why coral reefs are “dying” and how it’s affecting us. Just recently, I learned that the temperature change isn’t directly killing the coral, it’s killing the relationship between the coral and the algae that lives in it.
